Where is the starting point for the river trips and how do I get onto the river?



Your river trip excursion will begin at either our office location (847 S White Horse Pike, Hammonton, NJ) or at Sweetwater Marina and Riverdeck (2780 7th Ave, Sweetwater, NJ). You will have the ability to choose when you book your adventure. Our team takes care of the logistics so you can focus on the excitement ahead. We'll transport you, your group, and all the necessary equipment to your chosen launch point within the stunning Wharton State Forest. The journey to these spots involves a scenic drive along Pleasant Mills Road or a sandy forest trail.

Where does my river adventure end, and how do I get picked up?



A driver will be waiting for you at your destination at the scheduled end time of your river trip adventure. Please be patient, as arrival times may vary depending on individual paddling speeds. If you think you will be earlier or later, please call or text us at 609-833-5011.

Is there any age limit for Jersey Devil Adventures River Trips?



Kayak Minimum Age Rules:
Single Kayak: Minimum age 10 (to paddle independently).
Tandem Kayak: Minimum age 5 (with an adult in the rear seat).
All Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+).

Canoe Minimum Age Rules:
Minimum Age 5: (as a passenger with two adults).
Minimum Age 10: (to paddle from the front seat with an adult in the rear).Additional Safety Measures:
‍Parental/Guardian Waiver: A signed waiver is required for all minors participating.

‍Safety Briefing: We provide a clear, age-appropriate safety briefing for all paddlers.

‍Supervision Ratio: We recommend one adult per child under 12 for additional safety.

What skill level is needed for kayaking or canoeing on the Mullica rivers with Jersey Devil Adventures?



Paddling on the Mullica rivers is suitable for paddlers of all experience levels. We do recommend having some basic paddling knowledge or going with a friend or family member who has paddling experience. While these slow-flowing rivers do not feature rapids, there are occasional natural obstacles such as downed trees and low-hanging branches that require basic paddling skills to navigate effectively. Our skill level recommendations are included in our trip descriptions.

Incident Handling: What do you do if your canoe or kayak tips over?



At Jersey Devil Adventures, your safety is our top priority. While tipping is uncommon, it's important to be prepared.

Follow these steps if your watercraft overturns:

Stay calm. The Mullica rivers are generally shallow, with depths averaging 2-4 feet.
Check on your partner and alert nearby boaters.
Secure your paddle and gear on the riverbank or with other boaters.
If your canoe or kayak becomes filled with water and you find yourself in the water, first move the canoe to shallower water where you can stand. Since lifting the canoe may not be possible, tip it upside down. Position yourself at one end and your partner at the other, then slowly lift each end until the canoe clears the water and flips over. You may still have some water inside, in which case you can paddle to a suitable area, fully remove the canoe from the water, and overturn it to drain any remaining water.
Secure any gear or trash that may have fallen out of your canoe or kayak to prevent littering the river.

What is your pet policy?



We are dog lovers ourselves so we would hate to turn any four legged friends away. However, we advise against bringing a dog on a river trip if it's their first time in a canoe or kayak. It's better to start with a lake where you can return to shore if your dog isn't comfortable. If you do choose to bring a pup, please keep them leashed at all times while on our property and during transport on our buses.

What should I bring during my kayak/canoe river trip?



Water or other drinks to stay hydrated (please refrain from bringing alcoholic beverages or glass containers)
Cell phone, ideally in a waterproof case or bag
Sunscreen and bug repellent to protect against the elements. We also have sunscreen to purchase in our shop.
Snacks and/or lunch to keep you energized throughout the day.
Dry clothes stored in your vehicle in case you get wet during your journey.
A waterproof bag to safeguard items you want to keep dry. We will also have these available to rent in our shop! While you may have cell service, it's wise to keep your phone in a waterproof pouch to protect it from water exposure.

Can I bring beer or other alcoholic beverages on my river trip adventures?



We carefully select accommodations ranging from comfortable hotels and lodges to unique boutique properties and eco-friendly resorts. The specific accommodation varies depending on the tour destination and itinerary.

Please note that alcoholic beverages are prohibited within Wharton State Forest as per New Jersey state regulations. We kindly ask that you refrain from bringing alcoholic

Are life jackets required on our river trip adventures?



Safety is our top priority at Jersey Devil Adventures. Here's what you need to know about life jackets:Yes, all participants must wear a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (PFD) while on the water.We provide high-quality, properly fitted life jackets for all our guests at no extra cost.Our staff will ensure your PFD is correctly sized and worn before you launch.Why we insist on life jackets:It's the law: New Jersey regulations require PFDs for all boaters.Safety first: Even strong swimmers can benefit from the added security.Peace of mind: Enjoy your adventure without worry.

What is our weather and canelation policy?



We run trips rain or shine, only cancelling if there are thunderstorms, high winds, or other unsafe weather conditions.

To check the weather forecast for our location (use zip code 08037 ), and for trip status updates, contact us at 609-833-5011 starting at 7 am on the day of your trip.

If we do cancel your trip due to inclement weather, we will notify you by 8 am and offer you the choice to reschedule your trip for another date or receive a full refund. If you do not hear from us, your trip is still scheduled, and refunds will not be issued.

Preparing for Rainy Days: If rain is in the forecast on the day of your trip, it's essential to dress appropriately. We recommend wearing layers, including rain gear or a waterproof outer layer, to stay comfortable during your time on the water. Additionally, bring extra dry clothes to change into after your journey. While we do provide life jackets for your safety, it's a good idea to pack a waterproof bag to protect any personal items you bring along. Dry bags are also available to rent at our headquarters.

Are there any bathrooms that are available during my river adventure?



Please note that once you embark on your river journey with Jersey Devil Adventures, there are no restroom facilities available. You will be exploring the wilderness of Wharton State Forest, so plan accordingly before departing from your pick up location. There are restrooms available at both pick up locations.
